MAFA UNIK - Silo system for outdoor and indoor use
There is nothing more important in animal farming than the structure and quality of the feed. MAFA UNIK is the only feed silo on the market that is specially developed to reduce feed separation and retain feed quality. This is just as important for, so called, environmental feeds as for pellet feedstuffs. The aim is to avoid finer particles increasing towards the end of an emptying cycle.

The diagram above shows the emptying cycle of a pellet feedstuff in a 6 ton silo. At the end of the emptying phase in the funnel fed silo, the percentage of fine particles increased with about 15 %. The MAFA UNIK silo showed a perfect emptying phase. In order to achieve this minimal separation, we have improved the methods of both filling and emptying.

In order to get the highest quality of the end product some of the farming organizations in Sweden have set up some quality criteria for handling feed in the silo.

Quality criteria for the feed handling on the farm:

- Set up your own quality standards for purchased feed.
- Always take a quality test at delivery, or get one from the feed supplier.
- Set up goals for hygiene and feed separation.
- Stipulate which silo fits your demands.
- Choose a feed auger that retains feed quality.
- Take regular tests of the feed during feeding and check that the feed retains it´s quality.

Quality criteria for the feed in the silo:

The MAFA UNIK silo helps you to get the highest quality of the end product by offering:

-	Filling by cyclone via a wide radius curve (Unik) which is the most careful method to fill a silo.
-	Steeper roof to get a better filling ratio.
-	Ventilation through the top cyclone prevents condensation.
-	Mass-flow (Unik) makes sure the silo is always emptied from the bottom with minimum separation. The oldest feed will be emptied first. Maintains the same volume weight and characteristics of the feed.
-	The smooth sheets are bonded together with a special, flat headed screw.(See picture below).
-	Steeper cone ensures complete emptying.
-	Hoppers and conveyors in several designs to prevent breaking down the pellet feed.
-	Sturdy and simple silo design with six supporting legs.
