Wood pellets are a carbon-neutral, environmentally friendly and concentrated biofuel.
Manufactured mainly from clean sawdust and shavings that are dried and pressed into small pellets with a diameter of 6 – 12 mm. The wood’s own lignin acts as a binder. Out of 5 – 7 car loads of sawdust, you get one car load of pellets. Pellets are carbon dioxide neutral and renewable biofuel.
This, together with a high and homogeneous calorific value, makes pellets an excellent commodity that can withstand both storage and long transports. Today, there are just over 30 larger pellet factories spread across the country, which together have a production capacity of almost 1 million tonnes per year.
Of which homeowners use about 270,000 tons. A share that increases by 20 – 30% per year. It is easy to convert to pellet heating, regardless of whether you use wood, oil or electric heating. A pellet burner replaces the oil burner and a pellet stove can handle 70 – 90% of the electric heat even in directly electric heated houses.
