Loading silo for calcium oxide

In Hofors, on Ovako’s industrial site, SaltX Technology has established its test and research facility ECRC (Electric Arc Calciner). Here, the technology is tested and scaled up to convert emission-intensive industries such as lime and cement into zero-emission industries. The technology involves replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy by directly separating and isolating the carbon dioxide released from the limestone when heated. It is a groundbreaking solution with great potential to drastically reduce the industry’s carbon dioxide emissions.

In 2023, MAFA delivered silos and other equipment to their facility in Hofors, where one of the silos is used as an unloading silo.

Materials handled in the MAFA silo:

– Calcium oxide, also called quicklime, unquenched lime or packing stone, is a chemical compound of calcium and oxygen with the formula (CaO)
– Calcium carbonate, or carbonated lime (CaCO3)
