In 2024, MAFA delivered two wood powder silos with associated screw solutions to NCC’s asphalt plant in Falun with a capacity to store approximately 330m³.

It is part of their overall effort to become 100% CO2 neutral and take steps towards a sustainable future.

Asphalt production is one of the largest sources of emissions in the construction sector, but by thinking innovatively and technologically ahead, NCC has found new ways to reduce its environmental impact. By replacing oil with wood powder when heating aggregates, they are taking a big step towards reducing their carbon emissions and increasing energy efficiency.

This work began as early as 10 years ago, when NCC began using wood powder in its asphalt production. Since then, they have continued to invest in technology solutions that not only reduce their CO2 emissions, but also pave the way for others in the industry to follow suit.
